Medicare Insurance
KMB Insurance Advisors can help you confidently navigate the complexities of Medicare, I specialize in helping clients understand their Medicare insurance options and finding the coverage that fits their needs and budget.
What is Medicare?
Medicare is a federal health insurance program primarily for people age 65 and older. It also covers certain individuals under 65 with qualifying disabilities. While Medicare covers many healthcare expenses, it does not cover everything. That’s where additional coverage options can help.
What Are Your Medicare Insurance Coverage Options?
There are several types of Medicare insurance plans available. Each offers different benefits depending on your healthcare needs:
Medicare Supplement (Medigap) Plans
Medicare Supplement plans help pay for healthcare costs that Original Medicare doesn’t cover, such as copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles. Plans are sold by private insurance companies and vary in coverage and cost.
Tip: The best time to enroll in a Medicare Supplement Plan is during the six-month window after enrolling in Medicare Part B. During this period, you are guaranteed coverage regardless of preexisting conditions.
Medicare Advantage Plans (Part C)
Offered by private insurance companies, Medicare Advantage Plans combine Medicare Parts A and B, and often include additional benefits. These plans may also include prescription drug coverage.
Medicare Part D Plans (Prescription Drug Plans)
Part D Plans help pay for the cost of prescription medications. These plans are available as standalone coverage or bundled into some Medicare Advantage Plans.
When Can You Make Changes to Your Medicare Plan?
You can review and change your Medicare Advantage or Part D plan during the Annual Enrollment Period, which runs from October 15 to December 7 each year. This is a great time to compare plans, check for changes, and ensure your current coverage still meets your needs.
